Ukraine’s ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’ party will support Ukrainian president-elect Vladimir Zelensky only if he takes practical steps to bring peace to Donbass, Chairman of the party’s Political Council Viktor Medvedchuk said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Monday.
“Today, we can’t say that we support him because support is only possible if he truly wants peace in Donbass, if we see that he is taking actual steps to achieve this goal,” he said.
According to Medvedchuk, this is the only condition on which the ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’ party is ready to provide assistance to Zelensky if the need arises.
Ukraine’s presidential runoff took place on April 21. With 99.53% of the vote counted, leader of the Servant of the People political party Vladimir Zelensky has received 73.23% in Ukraine’s presidential runoff, while incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko gained 24.45%.

I doubt any Ukrainian can bring the Donbass back into its fold without a thorough ‘lustration’ of the proudly-fascist Parubiys et. al. and war crimes trials of the antagonists. Far too many gruesome deaths of innocent civilians in the Donbass from Ukraine’s indiscriminate shelling to settle for anything less. Of course, Zakharchenko’s assassination won’t be forgotten anytime soon either.
There’ll be hell to pay, one way or another. Count on that.
The bringing back of Donbass into the fold would be doomed to failure. Donbass has no reason whatsoever to trust Ukraine. Perhaps the only peaceful way forward is for Ukraine to issue a formal apology to Donbass for the death and destruction it has suffered since the US-funded coup in Kiev, support its separation from Ukraine, and provide assistance to repair the physical damage it has done to buildings and infrastructure in Donbass. Why are you guys so shy about referring to the Ukrainian para-militaries as Nazis. That is exactly what they are. Namely the descendants of Stepan Bandera’s movement OUN-B and and its military wing the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) led by Roman-Taras Yosypovych Shukhevych which collaborated with the German Waffen SS Eisengruppen (Death Squads) in the widespread massacres in the western Ukraine between 1943 and 1945. One thing I didn’t hear you guys talk about was how much of an influence the move to separate the Ukrainian Orthodox church from the Moscow Patriarchy had on the recent election. A great deal I might think. It’s one thing to mess with politics, quite another to mess with religion. I think that move really pissed a lot of people off. I would think that Washington should have known better. But then maybe not. It certainly isn’t the dumbest thing the knuckleheads in Washington have ever done. Rule #1 in The Ukraine – “Don’t mess with my orthodoxy!”.
Fair point, but a little early to say. Has the Ukrainian public at large said or declared anything about the schism? Bear in mind when we discuss the politics of power and prophecy we aren’t usually referring to a majority (most people I know are worrying more for their next meal than for who feeds them), we are usually talking about the 1% that speak for us all. I seriously doubt many Ukrainians cared for the coup beyond securing a future (which hasn’t come) and only in despair has Donbass and Lugansk understandably opposed the coup. Thank you for the feedback. I agree that “elections” are mostly a sham and that the 1% rules surpreme, not the “people”. However, we still might use election results as a gauge of popular sentiment. The U.S. is no better off with Trump in office, but the election results speak volumes about the bleak, desperate condition that is American “Culture” that is if you can call Pop Culture “Culture” at all.
