BREAKING: Vladimir Putin congratulates Donald Trump on U.S. Presidential Election victory (VIDEO)

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated President-elected Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. Presidential Election and 'hopes to work on international issues' together.

In a message to Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin congratulated the U.S. President-elect on his victory in the U.S. Presidential election and wishing him success in taking on the serious task of being head of state.

From the Kremlin‘s official website:

In his message, Mr Putin said he hopes for work together to lift Russian-US relations out of the current crisis, resolve issues on the international agenda, look for effective responses to global security challenges.

The President said he is confident that Moscow and Washington can establish a constructive dialogue based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and genuine consideration for each other’s positions. This would be in the interests of both peoples and of the entire international community.

Mr. Putin wished Mr. Trump success in the high office and responsibility of head of state.

Putin elaborated:

“As I have repeatedly said, that is not our fault that Russia-US relations are in that state. Russia is ready and wants to restore the fully fledged relations with the US. I repeat we understand this will be difficult but we are ready to play our part in it.”

RIA Novosti reported:

“The Russian leader noted in the message that he hopes to address some “burning issues that are currently on the international agenda, and search for effective responses to the challenges of the global security.”

“On top of it, Putin has expressed confidence that “building a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington, based on principles of equality, mutual respect and each other’s positions, meets the interests of the peoples of our countries and of the entire international community.”

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has also expressed hope that Trump’s victory in the presidential election will help pave the way for a more constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

Volodin went on to say:

“The current US-Russian relations cannot be called friendly. Hopefully, with the new US president a more constructive dialogue will be possible between our countries. The Russian Parliament will welcome and support any steps in this direction.”

A member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Senator Aleksey Pushkov, has meanwhile noted that Hillary Clinton’s stake on the conflict with Russia has eventually done her a terrible disservice:

“[Playing the] ‘Russian card’ and portraying Putin as a bad guy did not help Clinton. On the contrary, staking on the conflict with Moscow has only caused fear, doing her a disservice.”

Putin said at an economic forum in Moscow:

“We are concerned with the deterioration of Russian-American relations, but that was not our choice, we never wanted that. On the contrary, we want to have friendly relations with the US, a great country and a leading economy.”

UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, congratulated Trump “following a hard-fought campaign.”

“Britain and the United States have an enduring and special relationship based on the values of freedom, democracy and enterprise. We are, and will remain, strong and close partners on trade, security and defense. I look forward to working with President-elect Donald Trump, building on these ties to ensure the security and prosperity of our nations in the years ahead.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan even sent his congratulations to Trump saying:

“I hope the choice of American people will be well in terms of freedoms and liberties as well as the developments of the region. I’d like to personally — and for my nation — interpret this positively and wish him a successful future.”
