COUP IN TURKEY

Both expected and unexpected. Unexpected because I did not expect it today. Expected because the way Erdogan was going was causing more and more people in Turkey serious alarm and there have been rumours of a coup for months.

The big question is whether the whole of the military are backing the coup. All the information I am hearing is that they are.

The other big questions are (1) what now for Turkey and (2) what now for Erdogan? On the second there are rumours he has fled the country in a private jet but no definite confirmation yet.
